Frequently asked questions
How NestSplit handles groups, splits, udhaar, and Google Sign-In. NestSplit tracks balances — you still pay on UPI.
Is NestSplit only for flatmates?
No. Use it for flat or PG bills, trip groups, personal expenses, and money you’ve lent someone — anything you’d otherwise note in chats or a spreadsheet.
Is NestSplit free to start?
Yes. Create a group, invite people when you need to, and start tracking right away — no credit card required.
How do splits work?
Split equally across a group, or customise amounts per person. NestSplit calculates what each person owes so the totals always add up.
Can I track udhaar (money I lent)?
Yes. Log the amount, who owes you, and keep it pending until they settle on UPI — then mark it settled so your balances stay honest.
Does NestSplit move money for us?
NestSplit tracks who owes whom. You pay outside the app on UPI or bank transfer, then mark the balance settled.
How do I invite people to a group?
Open the group and share the invite link or code. The other person signs in with Google, opens the link, and requests to join. A group admin approves the request.
Can I track personal expenses without a shared group?
Yes. Personal expenses stay on your side and are not mixed into group splits. Use a group when rent, trips, or shared bills need to be divided.
Why does NestSplit use Google Sign-In?
Google Sign-In is the only way to create an account. NestSplit uses your name, email, and profile photo to identify you in a group. It does not post to Google or use that data for ads.
Can I archive a group after a trip?
Yes. After everyone has settled, archive the group so it stops appearing as an active room. You can unarchive it later if you need the history.
Does NestSplit work on my phone?
Yes. NestSplit is a web app you can install on your phone (PWA). Sign in on the browser you use, then add it to your home screen from the browser menu.
